My Stocks Experience

Hello! While we were reading Westing Game, we started this spreadsheet inspired by Turtle and her love for stocks.

Setting this up was probably the most complicated thing, but it’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it. So in the first column is our stocks, 2 is each price for share, and in the 3rd column was how many shares we bought of that one stock. We tried to get it as close to $20,000 as we could, but we couldn’t go over.

In column 4 was our first formula. In the first box was multiply c2, d2 which is our first stock shares and stock price.  It would multiply how many shares you want of your stock and how much it would cost for one share. This process would go on for the rest of the column. This is the exact same process for the next formula column.

The third column is only a little bit different. It subtracts the first two formula columns from one another. My final product was in the negatives, so I lost money.

This experience was really fun. When I first entered the stock app, I had no idea what it was in the first place, and then I didn’t even know you could set up formulas in the sheets app! I have learned so much from this experience.

At first I thought it was a little annoying having to check our stocks, but it turned out to be fun. It was really funny to hear how some people’s stocks were doing well and others not so much.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy your Memorial weekend!

My Psychology Talk

Recently we have started working on our TED presentations, and I was the second one to present. This is kind of a shocking experience, talking about something you love in front of your classmates is kind of awkward, but that was technically what my presentation was about.

My presentation was on self-confidence and how a simple good job or cheer can change how you think or act. This is important to me because my sister has always encouraged me to do this, and after a while and her leaving for college again, I decided to finally try it.

When I stepped in front of the class to present, it was a little shocking, but just take a deep breath in and out. Once you start to talk, you just can’t. And that is how you know you are passionate in what you are doing.

Practicing is another very important part to your TED Talk. My Dad told me to present in front of a mirror, because it’s kind of like presenting to someone else in a way. I tried this out and surprisingly, it worked! I also presented in front of my parents and my dog, and they were proud of my work.

So this is a reminder to stay confident.

The Roots that Connect my Book

Hello! Recently we just finished up working on a book that has been in the works for months. A lot of us have worked really hard on this, either working on the paper or just akua or screen printing. We had a lot of fun working on this, at least I know I did.

My personal favorite part was doing the collage. I really loved cutting up the perfect shapes and placing them on the book, but I also liked doing the akua ink. I think a lot of people also liked to do collaging, my friends were at my table and it was fun to talk to them while doing work.

I sadly couldn’t make it to the gallery, but I know it would’ve been fun to look at all the books. Although I’m not sad that my dad didn’t have to read what I wrote about him in my roots. I’m not the sappy type of person that likes to share their feelings. Here is the link to the gallery, https://www.frankisart.com/.

This tree book has made me think of what we can do to save the planet, so what will you do? How will you contribute to saving this planet? Studies say that only half of our planet will be able to survive if we start planting more trees.

My New Story

Home

About six months ago we started working with a write named Frances Dowell. If you don’t know who Frances Dowell is, that’s okay. Frances Dowell is a writer who has been awarded many awards for her writing. She even has her own website (right below my cover).

I learned from Frances Dowell that I write about my surroundings in the story really well. So I tried to focus on that and try to focus other parts of my story like dialogue and tying in the characters more. I really didn’t know how to start my story until Frances Dowell told us how to. I would have just written a really boring opening scene and nobody would want to read my story even though it gets better when you get deeper into it.

I read parts of my story to my mom and she gave me some advice to fix some of my dialogue. It was really helpful to hear those words because after that I realized my dialogue was just very bland and not interesting in the least. I also read another part to my sister and she told me I should not make her have a dead sister, which wasn’t very helpful. And Frances Dowell, like I said up top, said I write about the backgrounds really well so I tried to focus on what my mom said.

I feel proud of myself but I think I could have done better. I only wrote around 26 pages and I really think I could have wrote more if I really focused on writing my story really well. I do feel proud of myself for focusing on the dialogue and throwing curve balls at the readers. I think I will continue to write more stories, one of my friends gave me a good idea and I’m going to try and practice writing with that story idea.

I feel pretty good about my story, maybe I should edit it a little more. But other than that I don’t have any concerns about my story.

Window or Mirrow

Hello, today we will be talking about window or mirror books. Now, you might be wondering what a window or mirror book is, and that’s where I come in. A window book is not a reflection of yourself, the book doesn’t relate to you and you don’t see yourself in it, and no, it is not an actual window. Now for a mirror, it’s a reflection of yourself. The character in the book is going through something that you’re going through, their identity is your identity, or they just have the same name as you.

I choose the book Say Yes Summer by Lindsey Roth Culli, and I really suggest you read it. In Say Yes Summer it is a girl who wasn’t necessarily popular, if that even should be a word, and only cares about her future and her grades right now. But soon she finds herself interested in two guys, and the worst thing is that she’s going to college in a few weeks!

Now this book is not really a mirror, its more of a window for me. I don’t have two guys, I’m not going to college in a few weeks, nor do I have a brother, or a grandma that lives with me.

But some mirror parts that I have with this book is that I have an annoying sibling, I care about my grades, and I don’t want to work at a restaurant.

Thank you for reading my Window or Mirror blog post and I hope you enjoyed it!

Daily Habit Tracker

Hello people, today I will be talking about my thoughts/feelings about my Daily Habit Tracker.

Well first off, I can say it was a tiny bit stressful, but only because I wanted to do one every day, but sometimes didn’t have that opportunity. Like the plank, for example, I tried to do it every day, but starting daily habits are hard, and you really need to ease into them. I kept forgetting to do the plank, so that’s what stressed me out a bit, but when I did do it, I felt so accomplished, like I ruled the world.

In my January tracker my daily habits were affirmations, write in my journal, yoga, and soccer. My favorite was definitely soccer, I did not enjoy writing in my journal or affirmations that much. But they did help me mentally, though they weren’t fun, they were easy to tackle.

I think a big part of daily habits, is actually enjoying the daily habit. If you enjoy it, that will make you want to do it even more, and that’s kind of how daily habits start in the first place.

My new daily habits for February are Guitar and soccer. Although I can’t guarantee I will do soccer every day, I know that I will do guitar a lot. I minimized how many daily habits I had, but made them more difficult, I feel like that’s fair, right? Anyways, I enjoy guitar so much, it’s just so fun in my opinion, and soccer, who wouldn’t love soccer?

So even though some daily habits are annoying, like if you had a daily habit to brush your teeth, which I hope you do, that’s pretty small but can make a difference in your life, a huge difference.

What type of puncuation am I…

Hello, I’m here to write about what punctuation I think I am. Well, to be honest, I think I’m an exclamation point, I’m always energetic, and make jokes when I want to… I could be called a question mark since I do ask questions sometimes, and I am very curious, I think I’m a bit more of an exclamation point. An exclamation mark is used at the end of a sentence, mostly used during exciting sentences, or worried about someone or something. Well, I am very excited, in my point of view, and I still light up the room at some points in time. A question mark is used to, well, obviously for questions. I do like to ask questions a lot, but most of the time I’m not a question mark, because I just can’t come up with a question. And those are my reasons I’m an exclamation point! I hope you like my reasons!

Daily Habits

Daily Habits are very important, from brushing your teeth, to waking up on time so you don’t get fired from your job. It doesn’t matter how important it is, all that matters is if you do it.

Earlier in the year we had a daily habit to do planks, and that really hurt my core, but at least my strength is better than it was, maybe a little. The whole experience was great, but annoying. Sometimes I didn’t want to do it because I was so sore, or so tired, but I pushed my self to do it, and all though I didn’t last very long, at least I tried.

My current daily habit is doing affirmations, yoga, writing in my journal, and soccer. Yeah, I have a lot of daily habits, but they all contribute to my mental health and physical health. Writing in my journal and affirmations contribute to my mental health, and it really helps me.

Affirmations and writing in my journal are just two major things that I think everyone should do. Because of affirmations, I feel like a better person, a healthier person. And because of yoga and soccer, I feel proud of myself, and stronger. And when we ended the plank, I also felt very proud of myself.

So what I’m trying to say is, daily habits are more than what you need, what’s a necessity… It’s about making yourself feel worthy, and keeping yourself in the best shape you could possibly be.

A Tiger’s Whisker Comic Post.

The picture above is the comic I drew called The Tiger’s Whisker. It was really fun making this comic, it was definitely one of the better assignments. The moral is a basic, but very true moral. Always have patience, it’s very true, if we didn’t have patience then we’d all fall into pieces, I mean the lady in the comic fell apart.

Wisdom tales have many meanings to everyone, everyone has a different perspective on it. I think a wisdom tale is a fun story, but has a deeper meaning. Some people can over look it, and some, probably younger, think of it as a fun story.

I really liked the moral and the actual story. If she actually tried, then she would have to go on a wild goose chase. It was a big waste of time, but it was a good lesson that she had to learn patience.

I created my comic by drawing my drawings on sketchbook, then adding it to comic life. I think you should add life to your drawings, and really feel the story to actually draw it.
